My Digital Map
My Digital Map
09/18/21
Reading about what a digital map was by David White really had me think about what technology
applications I use, how often and how well I navigate them. In all honesty, I am not that tech saavy but I
can get by, I suppose. My resident applications I use are more social media strains and email apps. I am a
tv person and since the launch of apps like Netflix and Hulu-my life has somewhat become complete. I
have a big presence on Facebook and Instagram as well. I use those apps daily along with my Yahoo
account app. My Gmail account is only used for work but with that comes Google meets as well. Having
to do this assignment, I decided to check my timing that I use on each of my apps (via my Iphone). I spend
way too much time on social media aimlessly scrolling. I deleted those apps around finals in the spring
and it really did me some good. I jumped back on about a month later. Perhaps, a little hiatus wouldn't
hurt.
My Visitor Side
Now when it comes to the visitor side, I had more apps that I have some trouble with navigating, are
new to me, and do not use often. Pintrest is something I only use to look for things like nail designs when
I waiting for a manicure. The Canvas application is one that I still sometimes find hard to navigate when
it comes to finding resources. I use my Bank of America application maybe 2x a per week, but
literally for 20 seconds and close it out. I do not even know how to send money from my app. like all of
my friends do. Outlook is something I use more often but only for Dominican, so I do not see myself
using it much after I graduate. That made me think of the apps I use now, that I may never use in the
future. For example, I used to use D2L all the time for my undergraduate degree but now it is a thing of
the past. Perhaps, this will be the case for social media in the future as well or maybe there will be
something to replace Facebook and I will be using that more often. Another app that I used so much
during the pandemic was GoGuardian. Nowadays, we are trying to stay away from tech a bit more in the
classroom so I totally forgot I had it until I receive an email about it.
