Blog Post #5: Research

Blog Post #5: Research The pandemic hit everyone so suddenly and hard that it is crazy looking back that it was almost 2 years ago. The pressure of the pandemic affected everyone differently, but after reading some research articles on how it affected students and specifically students who are known as GenZ (born after 1996) came out with some results that were surprising to me.  Image: Pewreasearch.org My professional experience even before the pandemic with students aged 9-14 as well as my personal  experience having a high schooler always lead me to believe that these kids were so much more advanced  in the technological department then I ever was at their age. I suppose my parents said the same thing of  me seeing how I am a millennial and windows 95 was my expertise. The data I interpreted showed that  this generation of people born after 1996, are the most diverse and also on track to be the most educated  group of people along with the mos...

What is active learning? Image : My personal Jamboard Active learning is all about the students engaging in their learns by being involved in how they learn. Active learning really is something that I see as extremely important nowadays in classrooms across the USA. In my experience in education, there are too many teachers that are stuck in their own ways of teaching and refuse to deviate from it. Students are not one size fits all and never will be. With all of the technology available to so many educators, differentiation and giving some of the choice and power back to the student is attainable.  I really enjoyed seeing the Coonley activity because it not only showcased how students feel about school but also was streamed online which probably made a lot of students feel special to have something by the school posted about them in such a positive way. These kinds of activities give autonomy back to the students and helps show them there is a way to display their creativity...

My Digital Map

My Digital Map 09/18/21 My personal digital map image from Google My Resident Side      Reading about what a digital map was by David White  really had me think about what technology  applications I use, how often and how well I navigate them. In all honesty, I am not that tech saavy but I  can get by, I suppose. My resident applications I use are more social media strains and email apps. I am a  tv person and since the launch of apps like Netflix and Hulu-my life has somewhat become complete. I  have a big presence on Facebook and Instagram as well. I use those apps daily along with my Yahoo  account app. My Gmail account is only used for work but with that comes Google meets as well. Having  to do this assignment, I decided to check my timing that I use on each of my apps (via my Iphone). I spend  way too much time on social media aimlessly scrolling. I deleted those apps around finals in the spring  and it really did me some...

EDU 776  Blog Post #3- Frameworks for Tech in the Classroom Sept. 08, 2021 What is this new technology business in the classroom?                                                                  Source   As stated in my last blog post, I never saw myself on this path of working in education. I have never been super tech saavy and cannot build a bookshelf to save my life but as we went into remote learning, I could not have imagined what school would have looked like without the technological advances we have today.  Now thankfully I was exposed to what a Google classroom  looks like, thankfully because being a paraprofessional meant that I was really the go-to person to get a million g-chats asking about how to turn something in or open...

Hello!  I am Rhiannon Broschat                                                                          (Source: Womenemployed.com) Education: I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor's in Justice Studies and Social work thinking I would be either a social worker or a juvenile probation officer. I ended up getting a job through a friend at CPS as a Special Education Classroom Assistant. I had never worked in a classroom or imagined myself in education at all. I love school but I am terrible in math and so I never thought I could do it. I guess I proved myself wrong because here I am in a Master's Degree Program trying to learn how to be a SPED teacher-go figure!     ...
