Hello! I am Rhiannon Broschat

Education:
I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor's in Justice Studies and Social work thinking I would be either a social worker or a juvenile probation officer. I ended up getting a job through a friend at CPS as a Special Education Classroom Assistant. I had never worked in a classroom or imagined myself in education at all. I love school but I am terrible in math and so I never thought I could do it. I guess I proved myself wrong because here I am in a Master's Degree Program trying to learn how to be a SPED teacher-go figure!
Personal
I am very open about my personal life-I think because it is what made me what I am today. I have a 17 (almost 18 year old now) son and I am freaking out that he is a senior this year. I had my son at 15 and was a single parent the whole time. My son was diagnosed with Autism early on and so I believe that this path that I am in is due in part because of him. He taught me how to have empathy and compassion and drive. I adore him and could not see my life without him.
I also have 2 dogs named Nala and Bambi. They are my doggie daughters and I love them to the moon and back! I am a huge animal fan and dogs are my #1 fav but I love cows, sharks and whales also. I am hoping to travel to Alaska this coming year to see orcas in the wild.
I also have done public speaking for the White house, Nancy Pelosi and Hilary Clinton campaigns-you can Google me for the back story haha

Rhiannon, You should be very proud of yourself for you accomplishments! I really does sound like you are on the right path with you career. You will make a huge difference in so many lives with just your experiences alone. Combine that with your education and you are going to be an incredible asset to any school you work at.
ReplyDeleteRhiannon,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved learning more about you through this post! I feel the same way about dogs and animals of all kinds. Not to brag but maybe to brag a little bit, I saw an orca breach while on a cruise in 2017 and absolutely started weeping at the sight. They are so AWESOME. I haven’t been to Alaska but my parents have and it looked like an out of this world experience. Take lots of photos when you go! That’s also super cool that you’ve worked with such prominent figures! I’ll have to do a quick google of ya later to find out the deets. - Kelsey W.
Great to meet you, Rhiannon. I'd love to learn more about your public speaking. Perhaps you can add a link to your post with one or two Google hits that you would like us to read. Thanks for sharing your path with us.
